Oligopoly is a competition, based loosely on a popular board game, which sees Cubs, Scouts and Explorers race around Nottingham trying to visit as many places, and earn as much money, as possible.

Cubs, Scouts and Explorers each have their own dedicated Game format, with Explorer Games running from 9am-5pm, Scout Games running from 10am-4pm and Cub Games running from 11am-3pm.

Cub Teams can have up to 12 players, Scout and Explorer Teams are limited to 6 players maximum. All numbers include any young people and adults taking part.
Oligopoly History
2022
The first version, run as an evening activity for 1st C&A Scouts in the cold and wet, with some frantic leader maths at the end of the night to determine which of the two teams won
2023
The proof of concept, for Nottinghamshire Young Leaders Day, using pen and paper to track visited locations and an early version of the Score Calculator spreadsheet to add it up
2023
The first official run, Oligopoly is born with 18 teams and nearly 100 participants across the Scout and Explorer Game formats using the fully digital, semi-automated check-in & scoring system
2024
The biggest Oligopoly yet! With the launch of the Cub Game seeing over 50 teams and almost 300 participants across the three Game formats, representing six counties
